Kevin Taylor was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences, earning his Associate and later Baccalaureate Degree in 1997 as a Registered Nurse while working at UT William F. Bowld Hospital. Upon graduation, he remained in the kidney, liver, pancreas transplant, endocrinology, and end-stage organ failure unit until 1998 when he entered graduate studies also at UT.
Mr. Taylor completed his studies in 2001, receiving two Master’s Degrees as a Medical/Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP). Then later attended The University of North Kentucky where he earned a Registered Nurse Surgical First Assistant certificate. After his formal academic training, he worked closely with the management of Methodist Hospital Memphis Emergency Department, assisting them in the development and implementation of a fast-track unit to improve patient care efficiencies and response times. Kevin then accepted a position as a two-year Medical/Surgical Spine Fellow with SPINE Memphis and Dr. Edward S. Pratt. He completed his fellowship in March 2004. Kevin assisted in the marketing and development of a second spine clinic, Memphis Spine Center helping to bring it to fruition in December 2005. He worked there as a Fellowship-Trained Spine Practitioner until March of 2006 when he accepted a position in Medical Device Sales with Synthes Spine and the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation. Kevin has diverse experience with spinal systems and industry roles including DePuy-Synthes-Sales and Market Development, Medtronic-Independent Consultant, NuVasive-Senior Spine Specialist, and LDR Spine-Product/Market Development Manager. Kevin is currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in Florida. Kevin has been a professional Nurse for twenty-four years and functioned as an integral member of the intraoperative spine team as a Surgical First-Assistant and/or representative of the market-leading spine industry for over twenty. Kevin’s lifelong passion is wellness through healthy living which includes diet, exercise, and lifestyle choices and he is demonstrating this currently as Owner/Operator of North Florida Alternative Medicine in Tarpon Springs.
Mr. Taylor has lectured nationally for The National Conference for Nurse Practitioners on topics ranging from intra-articular joint aspiration/injection and to the North American Spine Society on the effective use of physician extenders in surgical spine practices and back pain etiologies and treatment. Mr. Taylor has also presented to groups of physicians, quality assurance committees, and other health care providers on patient outcomes and cost-effectiveness of several well recognized surgical treatment modalities to improve the quality of life for patients.
Mr. Taylor has been married to his wife Sherri for twenty years and has two sons Noah nineteen and Grayson sixteen years of age. Kevin has been a runner for over twenty years and has competed in twenty marathons including seven in Boston finishing as high as 96th in a field of 42,000. Kevin also enjoys boating, fishing, and cycling among other interests.
Kevin’s three philosophical tenets that guide his motivation at home and in the workplace are gratifying in helping others develop through education, personal growth, and performance-based lifestyle rewards.
